The graphic novel uses art and a modern twist to bring the event to life again, using new translations and drawings to show people how to celebrate the holiday. There are many reasons this new graphic novel is gaining a lot of steam in the Jewish community and beyond.
Not only is this a way for people to have easier access to the information surrounding Passover and its historical significance, but it is shining a new light on the importance that the holiday has had in the past. Knowing that they had to marry art and history to make this project work, both Gorfinkel and Zadok set about to bring elements of Jewish tradition and modern sensibilities to the work.
When you open the novel, you will see the right-hand pages feature Kosher Hebrew and English translations about what is being depicted on the opposite side of the page. The left-hand pages are comics drawn in quality one would expect from the likes of major brands like Marvel or DC. Each page depicts the events leading up to Passover and why the celebration continues today. The connections to the modern day are also right there after the event has been explained. Instructions on how to celebrate various events are spelled out right on the page, making it easier than ever for teachers and students or parents and their children to learn about the holiday.
If you're looking for a Passover gift for a family, I highly recommend Gorfinkel & Zadok's new Graphic Haggadah. A complete text in Hebrew and English (w/ syllablization & songs); earnest but not corny, light-hearted, very readable & layout is awesome. https://t.co/HD8vUhnLxa

Moreover, the comics provide a lot of context through Jewish heritage and experiences, allowing new readers and people not familiar with Jewish roots the opportunity to learn something new in an exciting way.
Aside from being able to provide entertainment and a new method of approaching the stories of Passover, the new graphic novel also comments on Jewish identity. At a time when Jewish people are under attack in various parts of the world, it’s a relief to see their story given an appropriate modernization. The comic is launching on Passover 2019, giving everyone a chance to get a copy during the holiday.
