A Canadian Professor Embraces Islam

The Holy Quran

A well-known and respected Canadian professor, David Roy Woelke, has accepted and embraced the Islam religion and way of life. Woelke is a Canadian English language instructor at the King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia. David Roy Woelke has been given his new Islamic name which is Dawood.

David Woelke conducted a research and comparative study of Christianity, his former religion, and Islam. Woelke did an extensive study before he decided that Islam was the right religion for him. Wolke had originally believed the media’s portrayal of Islam religion as violent and associated with terrorism, but in fact he found that was the opposite. He has seen first-hand that Islam is a peaceful and loving religion. The two religions differ greatly, but David has decided to turn to what he believes is the ‘true divine religion’ of Islam.

David R. Woelke’s family follows the Christianity religion. Asked what his family would think of David turning to Islam for religion, David said, “There are a lot of misunderstandings about Islam in their minds. But, I am quite sure that their impressions about Islam would change when I explain to them its various teachings.”
Abdul Elah Al-Ajlan, deputy director of dawa programs at the University that Woelke teaches at assisted Woelke in reciting the Shahadah,”there is no God but God (Allah) and Muhammad is the Messenger of God (Allah).”

Many Westerners have the same belief that David R. Woelke had before he entered into the Islam religion. We only know what we read and see on television. Islam is portrayed in a violent and unloving way. There isn’t much taught in the good of Islam.

No matter what religion you believe in as long as there is love and peace, then that should be all that matters. Islam religion isn’t any different. You can’t judge a whole religion on one bad person or act. You must love and embrace all with love.

David R. Woelke has embraced the Islam religion. He has a lot of learning to do, but is enjoying the experience and feeling he gets with his new religion.
