The Church wants to be referred to by its full name.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the renaming of websites, employee email addresses, and social media accounts to delete the words “LDS” and “Mormon.”[/tweetit] The church wants to be referred to by its full name and not by the shorthand nicknames which it previously promoted.

The name “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” was given by the Lord Jesus Christ as documented in the revelation Doctrine and Covenants 115:4, which states “For thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
According to the church’s First Presidency, the effort mirrors its commitment to follow the words and deeds of Jesus Christ. In its March 5 letter titled “Using the Correct Name of the Church,” the First Presidency said “Jesus Christ is at the center of His Church and we will be blessed as we strive to make Him the center of our lives.”
This change means LDS.Org is now ChurchofJesusChrist.org and Mormon.org is now ComeUntoChrist.org. The social media accounts of the church will henceforth use its complete name and will not mention its nicknames. Such changes are the latest steps to bring into fruition a shift ordered by Russell M. Nelson, the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2018. The 94-year-old church member said the Lord prefers the importance associated by the full name. He claimed removal of his name from the titles is a “victory for Satan.”
The letter continued to inform that the effort to use the full name in all correspondence is a complex one as the name change will affect global languages. The content of the letter then went on to stress a lot of work remains to be done and encouraged all church followers to be courteous and patient as the church authorities all over the world work in tandem to share and use the church’s proper name across the globe. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints plans to consolidate its numerous social media accounts. It also wants to give increased importance to the Savior's church name. The concerned channels in social media will publish content which will focus more on sharing and living as per Jesus Christ’s gospel. A Facebook community group has already been established to achieve these aims.
