Is Ted Cruz anti-Semitic and anti-Atheist?

Ted Cruz’s latest comments have both Jews and atheists alike questioning the Presidential candidate’s views on non-Christians.

In January, Ted Cruz was asked by Justin Scott, a native of Iowa and an atheist, a few reasons as to why atheists should vote for Cruz. The response was at best an unsatisfactory one. Cruz did a monologue and claimed that he supported religious freedom and freedom of speech. To Cruz, it means supporting theists like Kim Davis, who has gained fame for using Christianity to shortchange others of their civil rights.

Cruz, in a subsequent interview to a media house, tried to moderate his beliefs. He was steadfast in his assurance that he is competing for the presidential post and will be not practically be a “Pastor-In-Chief”, He assured the news person that as president, he will look after atheists' interests as well. At the same time, the presidential nominee hopeful said that he is a Christian and he will not hide his faith. It is to be remembered that he described advocates of state and church separation as “atheist Taliban.”

Cruz's attitude towards Jews are also doubtful. Pastor Mike Bickle, an evangelical pastor from Kansas has endorsed Ted Cruz in his path to the presidency. Pastor Bickle runs the Israel Mandate project. One of the few goals of this particular project is to partner with the Messianic Jews for salvation of Jewish people. In his sermons, Pastor Bickle has repeatedly told God will give the Jews am opening to convert into Christianity and send hunters against those who refuse. He also said prior to the coming of Jesus, a large number of Jews will be interred in death camps, work camps or prison camps.

According to Nick Muzin, an adviser to Cruz's Texas campaign, Bickle was simply referring to a few biblical passages. The former said that the pastor is simply paraphrasing words of two prophets- Zechariah and Jeremiah. It follows that both the National Jewish Democratic Council and Anti-Defamation League have asked Cruz for clarification regarding Bickle's views. However, if Muzin is to be believed, 70 rabbis have endorsed Cruz.

After all these, it is no surprise that Ted Cruz prefers an ultra-conservative judge to take the place of Antonin Scalia. The surprising thing is that he is all too willing to lie about consequences if this does not take place. He reportedly told the press that a liberal justice means the destruction of religious liberty.
