Natalie Portman’s First Christmas Tree: “It’s kind of every Jew’s secret wish”

Natalie Portman’s Chrismukkah! Portman will get her very first Christmas tree while her family celebrates Hanukkah and Christmas in unison this year.

For Natalie Portman, the 2016 winter season is really a season of joy. She finally gets her cherished dream: a Christmas tree. The Jewish actress is celebrating both Hanukkah and Christmas at the same time with her family and also with her husband Benjamin Millepied’s family. It is no wonder she is ecstatic at the chance to enjoy the best of both religions.

The Oscar winner, in her interview with Jimmy Fallon, the host of the The Tonight Show, said that since she is Jewish, she celebrates Hanukkah while her husband's family, who are Christians, celebrate Christmas. In a normal year, they do Hanukkah at her house and Christmas at Millepied's. In 2016, Hanukkah falls on December 24, and thus it will be possible to do both at the same time.

According to Portman, this was not planned. When she first learned that both festivals will occur at the same time, she asked Millepied whether he would mind not having a tree to celebrate the occasion. However, her family intervened and told her to celebrate both Jewish and Christian festivities. She was understandably excited, telling Jimmy Fallon, “My whole life, no Christmas tree. And then all of a sudden they have this great excuse because it’s kind of every Jew’s secret wish to have a Christmas tree…It took 35 years to get here.”

Fallon then presented Portman with a unique memento to celebrate her personal milestone. She was presented with an ornament from the Tonight Show to hang from the Christmas tree.

Portman and her husband Millepied will celebrate Christmas once again when Portman is expecting another baby. The Hollywood star is expecting her second child, who they will welcome in spring time. The mother is not shy about showing her pregnancy style.

Earlier in November, Portman went to Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel for the Israel Film Festival Anniversary Gala Awards with her flawless sartorial style. She went up the stage as the recipient of the 2016 IFF Achievement in Film Award. She was not hesitant to display her baby bump in a striped dress. Her accessories were minimal. She wore only pink lipstick and classic hoop earrings. The gifted actress appeared perfectly at home with her bump when she posed with the Israel Film Festival founder, Meir Fenigstein and actress Sharon Stone.
