The component of respondents who are afraid of Christians more than the Muslims are quite illustrative: 72 percent of them are atheists, and 45 percent Democrats. Political independents make up 36 percent. Protestants and Catholics make up 29 percent and 23 percent respectively. Surprisingly, Republicans constitute 20 percent.

WND Christian/Muslim Threat

The shock of the poll is that all Muslim respondents hold the view that Muslims pose a larger threat to America then Christians. Fritz Wenzel, the chief of the poll exercise said those who think that Christians are a bigger threat could be influenced by the shootings at the Planned Parenthood office in Colorado Springs. The shootings ended with three deaths.  The shooter is believed to be a conservative Christian as he loudly denounced the actions of abortion clinics. He described abortion as baby killing- a pet project of Christian conservatives.

Wenzel added that even as women have a greater probability than men to classify Christians as a more potent threat compared to Muslims, 63 percent of respondents continue to say that Muslims form the bigger threat. He analyzed and came to the conclusion that if a respondent is more conservative, there is more chance of identifying Muslims as the bigger threat than Christians.

When it came to Protestants, Christianity was the larger threat opinion was expressed by 29 percent of respondents. A large proportion of Blacks are of the opinion that Christians pose the bigger danger, compared to other races who agreed that Muslims are a bigger threat to the U.S. The question asked was a simple one: who is a bigger threat to the U.S. -Christians or Muslims? The latter was identified as a bigger threat by 80 percent of Republicans, 55 percent of the Democrats and about 64 percent of Independents.

Conversely, the people with a more apparent liberal mindset selected Christians as the more potent danger. About 50 percent shared the opinion. If one breakups the result by race, it gets more interesting, with 67 percent of Whites identifying Muslims and 90 percent of Hispanics are of the opinion that Muslims are more dangerous.
