Stephen Curry talks the talk and literally walks the walk. Running in his trademark Under Armour shoes that read “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” he led the Golden State Warriors to victory, clinching the team’s second NBA championship in three seasons.

Steph Curry is an outspoken Christian.[/tweetit] When the Warriors won the championship, he could only attribute the victory to Jesus Christ, and did not bask in any glory for himself.

Curry believes he plays the game primarily to give testimony to his faith, and not for his own success and fame as a basketball player.  "I know why I play the game, and it's not to score 30 points a night, but it's to use the stage I'm on. I've been put here for a specific purpose: to be a witness and to share my testimony as I go through it," he said in an interview.

According to Curry, his Christian faith has been significant in guiding the path and direction of the team. "You ask anybody in their walk of faith – it's all about finding accountability partners and finding people that can encourage you in your walk. We have a group chat – we call it the discipleship group where we share Bible verses every single day and kind of do a Bible study through text message," he explained. It’s Christians like Curry that make true the believers’ duty to be “light and salt of the earth,” as he uses his special talent and privileged position to reach others for Christ, inspiring his fans in the process.

Steph Curry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, raised by Christian parents in a devout background. The family would do devotional time everyday in the morning, deeply influencing Curry’s development into a faithful man of God in his adulthood.

Curry is not only an all-star player but he was the 2015 and 2016 NBA MVP. Called by Joshua Cooley of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as “currently the greatest, most electrifying basketball player on earth,” he lives his faith with the same passion as he plays the sport.

“I’ve always been a believer that the Lord has put whatever talent in you, [and] whatever gift He has put in you, He wants you to get the most out of that. He wants you to succeed; He wants you to pursue and work and be passionate about it. It’s not about getting any of the glory for yourself; it’s all for His [glory].”

Indeed, Curry believes that he is identified more by his faith then by his basketball jersey. It is said in the Bible, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Curry’s faith is definitely bigger than a mustard seed, and as a Christian, he has been able to achieve feats that most can only dream of.
