Many viewers urge TLC to yank Duggar shows off the channel

Derick Dillard, reality star of TLC’s Counting On, has blasted fellow reality star Jazz Jennings[/tweetit], the prominent LGBTQ rights activist. The 28-year-old husband of Jill Duggar Dillard tweeted the promotional link to I am Jazz, the show starring Jennings on August 2. In his tweet, he argues transgender is a myth and in his own words, a “non-reality.”

Jazz Jennings gave it back, proving she has no time and little patience for people who are transphobic. Clearly unfazed by the unprovoked attack, she tweeted that she experiences cyber-bullying regularly, but keeps sharing her stories. This day, she reminded her followers, was no different.

Dillard's tweet can only be described as a harsh one. He retweeted the original TLC tweet and made the comment that a reality show follows a non-reality. He went on to say that gender cannot be fluid and transgender is just a myth. The reality show persona said that gender is decided by God. His tweet is a shocking one as the Duggars themselves helm a soon to be aired reality program. The Counting On content is all set to be unleashed on viewers from September. There are a number of nasty sides to it too. Derrick at 28 years is much older than Jennings' 16 years. He has fathered two children. Jennings, in contrast, is a high school student.

Dillard received criticism as soon as he posted his comment. A Twitter subscriber shot back, saying, “Is it necessary for a grown man to throw shade at a teenage girl?” Another Twitter user was more acerbic, saying, “Very hypocritical of your family to profit from a network which airs content against your beliefs. Don't like it? Don't associate with it.”

A number of TLC viewers have demanded that the Duggar shows not be aired at all. One woman wrote: “ARE YOU SERIOUSLY OK WITH THIS??? YOU'RE GONNA ALLOW A GROWN MAN CHILD TO BULLY A CHILD ON YOUR WATCH???.” Another was more direct, asking the network to push the Duggars out of their programming permanently. One user went for Duggar's jugular, asking that Derrick “transition into a real man.”

Jill Duggar Dillard rose to fame on TLC’s show 19 Kids and Counting, focused on the Duggar family and their 19 children.
