First Reformed To Be Released To Public In May

Acclaimed Writer/Director Paul Schrader has a new movie that has been getting widespread raves. The movie is called First Reformed.

It stars Ethan Hawke as a conflicted priest. Hawke plays Reverend Ernst Toller, a man who feels guilty about encouraging his son to enlist in the military. His son, after taking his father’s advice, later died in combat. The movie is centered around his relationship with one of his young parishioners, played by Amanda Seyfried, who is afraid that her radical environmentalist husband is playing an act of terrorism.

Paul Schrader is probably most famously known as the writer of Taxi Driver. The movie also includes the comparison between Reverend Toller’s modest church and a large megachurch run by Reverend Joel Jeffers, played by Cedric the Entertainer.

The movie has been released at film festivals and critics have called the movie a moving exploration of the human condition. It is set to be widely released on May 18.
