Weekly Spanish Radio show A La Carta insults Jewish Community with “racist,” “crude” claims of promoting Satan.
Anti-Semitism still exists today and it manifests itself in various forms. In Spain, a country with a past of Jewish persecution, history seemingly repeated itself when the government controlled RTVE aired a radio program which accused Jews of propagating Satanism.
The program From the Inferno – The Jewish People: Propagator of the Satan Cult is one of the episodes of the Satanism series featured on the weekly show A La Carta. What angered the Jewish community is the use of insulting phrases based on quotes from Jacob Frank, a former Jew which was kicked out of the religion because of his “heretic Kabbalistic interpretations” of the Jewish faith.
The announcer made claims like “The Jews first propagated the cult of Lucifer in several secret satanical societies” and “Through black magic, the Israelites called on the powers of darkness with demonic rational.”
In response to the insulting program, Yigal Palmor of the Jewish Agency and a former member of the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Spain expressed his dismay and anger on social media. He asks “How can a public entity give a podium to this sort of crude, lowly and disgusting racism? A return of the Inquisition.”
Other than the Jewish faith, the radio program also featured other religions or societies and their link to Satanism. In one of its previous episodes, it presented Satanism within the Vatican government.
Another recent case of anti-Semitism was witnessed in Spain when the organizers of the Rototom Sunshine Festival withdraw their invitation to the singer Matisyahu to perform in the event. Matisyahu was sacked out of the program when the Jewish-American artist refused to issue a statement that supports the Palestinian pursuit of statehood. Because of public outrage and with the help of social media, the organizers were forced to re-invite Matisyahu.
