In an interview with Chelsea Handler Wednesday night, Orange is the New Black‘s Laverne Cox dished on her preference in men.

“I dated a lot of Jewish men. I’d like to think of myself as the nation’s premiere black transgender shiksa [non-Jewish woman].”

The Mobile, Alabama native plays “Sophia Burset” on Orange is the New Black, a hit series on Netflix which chronicles the lives of female prison inmates.

As with many of her public appearances, Cox took the opportunity on Chelsea Lately to educate about gender identity and sexuality.

Earlier this month, she appeared on the cover of TIME magazine, the first openly transgender person to do so. Cox is a renowned speaker, appearing on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and NPR, among others.

Cox does not claim to be Jewish, but further details on her religious belief are not known.
