Pollers agree with White House Press Secretary’s claim that God chose Trump
A poll conducted by Fox News found 25 percent of Americans believe God wanted Donald Trump to be president.[/tweetit] 62 percent believe God didn’t want Trump to be president and 14 percent felt unsure about whether the election was a matter of the president being ordained by God to be the leader of the free world.

The breakdown on the individuals who answered yes and no on this question provides more insight into the beliefs of those involved. For example, about 55 percent of white evangelical Christians that responded to the poll believe God put President Trump in office. Protestants and Catholics answered “Yes” at a rate of 36 and 20 percent, respectively. This is interesting because it is often stated that the support of Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency was secured by the religious supporters in red states.
However, the question of belief also comes into play in this case and would explain the discrepancy between Donald Trump’s voters and those who believe he was ordained by God to be the leader of the United States.
However, there are several other parties involved in the poll from which some information can be gleaned. For example, only 8 percent of people who voted for Hillary Clinton voted “Yes” while another 87 percent voted “No.” This is in contrast to the 46 percent of Trump voters that answered “Yes” on the poll, a split that almost perfectly mirrors the contrast between Republicans and Democrats who answered at 45 percent and 9 percent respectively.
The question of God’s desire to have Trump as the leader of America came into question after the comment from Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders who said:
“I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that he wanted Donald Trump to become president. And that’s why he’s there, and I think he has done a tremendous job in supporting a lot of the things that people of faith really care about.”

Following the poll, it became clear that whether or not God wanted Trump in the Oval Office, the fact remains that he is losing supporters, even from his party and religious background. It also shows Trump has a strong support in the respondents that believe that he was chosen by God to lead the nation.
