God Rah rah ah-ah-ah! Lady Gaga attends mass and responds to haters.
As well as her more “normal” headline-grabbing antics, which in recent weeks have included high profile appearances at various public events, the pop superstar Lady Gaga has also been finding time to nurture her spiritual side.

On April 24, Gaga posted a picture of herself entering the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, quoting John 13:34 in the caption: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” She followed this up with further comments, saying that it was important to not “forget to love.”
The second post came last Sunday, when the Bad Romance singer shared a photo of herself standing with Father John P. Duffel, after a service at New York’s Blessed Sacrament Church. She thanked him for his sermon, saying that she was “so moved” by what he had to say.
Gaga’s Catholic roots go back to her childhood, when she attended New York’s Convent of the Sacred Heart School, and her faith has remained an important part of her life ever since- even as her pro-LGBT beliefs put her at odds with many conservative Catholics.
However, responding to negative feedback from Catholic commentators after her posts, Gaga pointed out similarities between herself and Mary Magdalene, “someone society shames as if she and her body are a man’s trash can” who “washed the feet of Christ and was protected and loved by him.”
“We are not just ‘celebrities,’” she went on. “[We] are humans and sinners, children, and our lives are not void of values because we struggle. We are as equally forgiven as our neighbor. God is never a trend, no matter who the believer.”
