Interstellar’s philosophical and religious undertones are examined in The Atlantic.
The Atlantic has published an article analyzing “the spiritual setting of space,” focusing mostly on the new movie Interstellar, but also mentions others such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Signs, and Gravity. The writer, Megan Garber, says these films all deal with “metaphysics, questioning the how and the why and the what ifs of the world and the space beyond it.”
Interstellar, while not a blatantly religious movie such as Exodus: Gods & Kings, uses themes such as self-sacrifice, a chosen one and chosen people, salvation, good and evil.
