The pastor reminds people that God created both man and woman in His own image and likeness, so God too is transgender.
A transgender pastor lashed out at conservative and fundamentalist Christians who spread hatred and use the Bible for their actions in Texas on Tuesday. Rev. S. David Wynn, a senior pastor from Agape Metropolitan Community Church addressed a crowd of protestors from the LGBTQ community that had gathered in protest against the state’s new law that stops people from using public washrooms according to their gender identity.

According to a new bill, transgender people in the state of Texas won’t be allowed to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with. This is happening at a time when protests are erupting all across the nation over the issue of a transgender student not being allowed to use the boys’ washroom. A number of religious leaders too came forward to express their support for the boy.

Pastor Wynn reminded the gathering that God made human beings in His own image and likeness. And as human beings are both males as well as females, God is transgender too. Amidst the roar of the crowd’s approval Rev. Wynn asserted that since all people are made in the image and likeness of God, everyone including transgenders are holy and divine and should be treated with equal respect.
Thundering against what is called as ‘the bathroom bill,’ the pastor warned conservative Christians against using God to hate people. He added that if their God hated people just as they did, it only means that they had created a new God in their own image and likeness.
Most senators of Texas State are in support of the bill. Although it’s yet to go up for review by the full Senate, it is expected that its acceptance is already confirmed. Democratic state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. said during the Tuesday hearing that he supports the bill because of the need to protect God’s creation. He also added that for him, God’s creation meant man and woman, clearly indicating that there was no place for a third gender.
The push for the bill was initiated by Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick ever since former president Barack Obama issued a directive stating that students were to be allowed to use the washrooms of the gender they identified themselves with. Current president Donald Trump’s attorney-general, Jeff Sessions, however, put an end to this rule in February.
