Dr. Rita M. Gross

Rita Gross is known world-wide for her innovative work on gender and religion. She wrote the ground-breaking book Buddhism after Patriarchy: A Feminist History, Analysis, and Reconstruction of Buddhism (SUNY 1993). In addition to her work on gender and religion, she has also been a leader in inter-religious exchange, especially in the area of Buddhist-Christian dialogue. That work is the basis of Religious Diversity—What’s the Problem? Buddhist Advice for Flourishing with Religious Diversity, which is the first Buddhist theology of religions. Dr. Gross is also a Lopon (Senior Dharma Teacher) at Mindrolling Lotus Garden Meditation Center in Stanley, VA.
