Porn relapse: The Lord will always give His guidance.

In a recent write up from the XXXchurch, an article about porn addiction and subsequent relapse was discussed. There are a number of things that were brought up by the writers, but the main concept was how people who relapse often go hard on themselves. Just like any other unhealthy addiction, porn can also become a compulsive habit and can take away from a person's quality of life, interfere with real world relationships, and even be the cause of sexual frustrations.

While it is definitely frowned upon by churches everywhere, and those who suffer from this addiction often feel a sense of guilt and general dissatisfaction about the situation they are in, the point to note here is that as imperfect humans, we are not impervious to temptation. Will a stumble cause God to lose faith in you or see you as a lesser human for it?

There are a number of people who fall from their abstinence from porn and never look back to stopping simply because they have stumbled. When you stumble, you make a mistake, the promise is broken so there is really no point in trying to try again, right? The mindset of many who fall victim to this line of reasoning may not be the right way to look at things.

Is it too late to turn around?

First off, God reads people's heart, intentions, he knows before anything is said or even thought of. Second, God does not judge people based on their slip-ups or transgressions. Errors are not the only thing God sees. Jesus Christ and his love, as seen in the gospels, is constantly by the side of every individual who pleads for it.

That provision is in place to not only help those surrounded by trials, but to also help those who stumble get back on their feet when they do slip. The more a person fights urges and temptations, in this case against porn, the stronger the Lord's guidance and protection will get. That is a good way to look at things.

Sins have been paid for through Jesus' death and resurrection, all of humanity's past, current, and future sins. That is a fact, but to be eligible, one must be repentant, it is with that mindset that every recovery should be viewed. God does not expect perfection from humans, but earnestness, and a strong desire to do his will and stay in his love is what he wants.
