United States President Donald Trump, his wife Melania Trump and their two children, Tiffany and Barron, attended an Easter church service at Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea. Incidentally, it is the same church where the then real estate billionaire married Melania in 2005. The event itself is a yearly ritual which gave the president a welcome break from a number of foreign policy crises. The rapidly rising tension with North Korea is one of them.

On Monday, thousands of visitors thronged the White House South Lawn to attend the first Easter Egg Roll hosted by President Trump[/tweetit]. Participation in 2017 was almost 50 percent less than 2016. The event had a number of organizational and scheduling challenges and was almost canceled.

The Easter Egg Roll event is a labor intensive and elaborate process. It is one of the more problematic social events the presidential staff is in charge of planning and Trump’s minimal staff made the execution a struggle.

Trump told guests the Easter Egg Roll was unfolding precisely at a time when the U.S.A. is “inching towards greatness.” He said the United States will be better and bigger as a country compared to the past. He repeatedly said if one sees what is happening, then it is apparent that the United States is on track.

Melania Trump, who resides in New York, faced a number of challenges when it came to planning and then executing the signature Easter Egg Roll event. According to the White House, the event has been considerably scaled back to permit approximately 21,000 visitors, a much lower number than 37,000 in 2016 and during the preceding years. The yearly party itself has been too much disorderly and thus unsuitable for children to enjoy. It did not help that planning started late.

The Trump party saw an absence of A-list celebrities and a number of costumed characters who were a fixture in previous Easter Egg Roll events. The 2017 edition saw jazz playing military bands and scarcely known musical acts. The mood was festive despite the occasional spot of rain.
