It is the firm belief of Sean “Diddy” Combs that God is playing the role of a facilitator when it comes to his quest to purchase the NFL team Carolina Panthers. Combs, at 48 years of age, is an entertainment mogul known for industry trail blazing companies like Sean John and Bad Boy Entertainment. He and his companies enjoy a significant influence in the fashion and music industry. He has asked fans for their support to realize his dream of owning a NFL team. To further his claim, the rapper posted a picture of him wearing a distinctive Panthers jersey. He also mentioned God's supposed involvement when it came to realizing his dreams of owning a NFL team. The Panthers are valued at $2.3 billion. Combs has a worth of $820 million.

Combs urged all the NFL owners to go for diversity through his social media tweets. He said that it is time for an African American to be the owner of a NFL team. He urged his followers to make that happen. Present owner Richardson, in his letter on the Panthers' website, announced his intention of selling the franchise right after the season ends. Until that period, he wrote, the focus would be on his team winning the Super Bowl championship. He reiterated that he will not begin any sale process, or entertain any inquiries related to the sale. All will be heard right after the last game gets played.

Combs' intention has found support from a number of high profile individuals like Steph Curry, the playing guard of Golden State Warriors. The latter tweeted that he wanted in on the transaction. He urged the rapper to buy the Panthers and make history by being the pioneer African-American to own any NFL team. Colin Kaepernick, who is presently an outcast from all NFL owners due to his protest against racial discrimination during national anthem in 2016, also wants in on the ownership.
