The Church of Scientology reportedly purchased the site in 2007 for 10 million, which underwent an upgrade for 6 million. The new facility has a sauna and purification centre for Scientologists for the purpose of getting rid of “toxins, pesticides and drugs lodged in the fatty tissues of the body.” Now priced at 16 million, it was first constructed in 1844.
The New Zealand church had its grand opening in January of this year.
After visiting the Auckland Headquarters, Cruise tweeted: “Thank you to the amazing people of New Zealand! I’ve had a great time filming the next Mission: Impossible here.”

A spokesperson for the Auckland church expressed his excitement over the actor’s visit, telling NZ Herald:
“We were very pleased to have him and he loved what he saw. I shook his hand and said it was good to meet him – it was fantastic he’s an important guy. He’s really down to earth, so it was just nice to have him here and that he would want to come see this.”
Cruise celebrated his 55th birthday last week, on July 3.
