Tom Cruise Makes Red Carpet Scientology Statement

When asked about Scientology by a reporter on the ‘Jack Reacher’ London premiere red carpet recently, Cruise responded publicly on the topic of Scientology for the first time in years.

While promoting his latest feature film, ‘Jack Reacher, Never Go Back,’ on the London premiere red carpet, Tom Cruise was suddenly and unexpectedly asked about his opinion about a recent documentary about his religion, Scientology, by the red carpet ITV reporter Lucrezia Millarini.

Though out of the ordinary in recent years as it has been written widely that Cruise has for some time clearly wanted to keep his professional and personal lives separate, Cruise, seemingly calm and composed, responded by saying…

“Its something that has helped me incredibly in my life. I’ve been a Scientologist for over 30 years. It’s something that is, you know, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am, so it’s a beautiful religion, I’m very proud.”

Traditionally, responding to questions about his religion and personal life is not something Cruise is known for:

“What’s interesting is, if I don’t talk about my religion, if I say I’m not discussing it or different humanitarian things I’m working on, they’re like, ‘He’s avoiding it.’ If I do talk about it, it becomes, ‘Oh, he’s proselytizing,’…When I’m promoting a film, I’m not going to get caught up in anything else, and that includes all my personal things.”

The news of Cruise’s new willingness to talk about his religion is going viral around the web today and perhaps it indicates a new level of candor from Tom Cruise.

Most stars, be they film, music, TV or sports stars and not just Cruise, are hesitant understandably in the age of social media and PR savvy handlers, to reveal publicly, their religious or even their personal lives. Honestly, it seems to us that the media are more interested in such than the general public is anyways, as is evidenced by the current top ‘Tom Cruise’ related most-searched keywords on Google below of which his religion is conspicuously absent:

  • Tom Cruise movies
  • Tom Cruise age
  • Tom Cruise height
  • Tom Cruise 2016

We’ll keep an eye and ear out to see if Tom Cruise continues to talk about his religion with the world of course, but in the meantime we’re gonna make some popcorn and iTunes the latest Mission Impossible movie and let Tom get on with it.;)
