John Travolta: How Scientology Helped Him Cope With His Son’s Death

John Travolta is just one of several major film stars that embraces the power of Scientology. In a recent interview, Travolta shared how his faith helped him manage in the dark days following the death of his son, Jett.

In an interview at the Royal Drury Lane Theatre in the UK, Travolta explained that he didn’t think he would make it through after his son’s death and described in great detail how Scientology helped him.

In a BBC report, the star of Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction detailed how grateful he was to his faith and said that the church had supported him seven days of the week.

“They didn’t take a day off, working through different angles of the techniques to get through grief and loss, and to make me finally feel I could get through a day,” Travolta says. He said his religion had helped save his life and that he would always be grateful to Scientology.

Jett Travolta died at just sixteen years of age. The sad news of his death made headlines internationally in 2009 when a tragic accident happened during a vacation in the Bahamas. Jett was on holiday with his father and his mother, actress Kelly Preston.

It was later determined that Jett had suffered a seizure, and his parents revealed that Jett had suffered from seizures throughout his life and was autistic.

Preston is an advocate for healthy, organic lifestyles.

“I strongly believe as a mother, as does my husband, that there are certain contributing factors that lead to autism and some of it is very much the chemicals in our environment and in our food,” proclaimed Preston.

Scientology was first founded by L. Ron Hubbard. It was under Hubbard’s direction that churches would rise up throughout the world. Hubbard was born in 1911 and was also a fiction writer.

Hubbard first founded Scientology in 1952. Hubbard also developed Dianetics, which remains a core principal of the teachings of the church. In addition, Hubbard had interests in exploring and travelling; he also had expertise in art and poetry.

Hubbard died in the mid-eighties; at the time of his death he was living in California.
