Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent statement that “Human rights are also co-equal; there is no hierarchy that makes some rights more important than others.” Seems to equate the rights specified in the Bill of Rights – such as freedom of speech and freedom of religion – with rights bestowed by a political administration and has stirred controversy.

White House Muslim Commemoration Attracts Boycott

A White House virtual event May 16 meant to mark the Muslim end of Ramadan attracted condemnation and boycotts from some Democrats and American Muslim groups as Israel and Palestine saw multiple days of violent clashes in recent weeks following an Israeli Supreme Court ruling allowing for the eviction of several Arab families from Eastern Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a holy site for Muslims, Jews and Christians. A cease fire, brokered by Egypt went into effect May 21st.

The decision comes after students at the school and its alumni petitioned Notre Dame’s president, Rev. John Jenkins, not to invite Biden, the second Roman Catholic president, over his pro-abortion policies.
