Fulmer is regarded as one of the best young pitchers in baseball. He won multiple accolades like the 2016 edition of American League Rookie of the Year. He also earned a position in the 2017 All-Star team. He has 3.46 ERA in his 58 career starts. When he plays, his fastball routinely touches a scorching 97 mph. Fulmer will earn in the region of $507,500 in 2018.

Fulmer's rise to stardom was not foreseen, even by the player himself. His formative years were spent playing in a local rec league and not in showcase tournaments. His portly figure weighing 160 pounds and relatively short height of 5'6” was more suited to a sedentary job than a sportsperson. His dream of playing in majors came to fruition when his ball started to have a velocity of 95 mph. Talent scouts came to see his practice. He was so good that David Wright phoned to congratulate and inform him that he was 44th pick of 2011 draft. The same dedication and pursuit towards excellence helps him in plumbing. All those who know him, from his boss at the plumbing company where he works during the off-season and his parents, describe him as a person who has ample curiosity and has great skill to solve problems.

Fulmer has not allowed success to go into his head. Unlike other players who travel to exotic places with their supermodel girlfriends or wives in tow, in the offseason Fulmer returns to Guthrie, Oklahoma, and can be spotted at the local Chili’s having lunch. Fulmer is not interested in being famous. If he was, he would not be a part-time plumber. It is a testament to his public discretion that not a single client of his part-time plumbing profession recognized him at work. If he can continue his roaring success, then there is a sure chance that clients will be excited to see him on their doorstep.
