Greaves thinks Pence is more of a threat to the United States than Trump.

Lucien Greaves, the co-founder of The Satanic Temple (TST), said the theocratic vision of Vice President Mike Pence scares him.[/tweetit] Greaves, who is also the chief spokesperson of TST, explained his reasoning. In his opinion, “Trump is too stupid to predict.” Furthermore, Trump does not know his limitations, and the reassuring fact is that the president is bereft of any vision. Pence, on the other hand, is the cause of terror as he has a clear and theocratic vision when it comes to the United States.

Pence is an evangelical Christian. He is public about his views and defended Karen Pence, his wife, after accepting a teaching position at a privately funded school which bars LGBTQ students and faculty.

The 43-year-old Greaves has been the unlikely top attraction of the 2019 edition of Sundance Film Festival. He along with Malcolm Jarry founded TST in 2013. The two are now subjects of Hail Satan?, a new documentary directed by Penny Lane. The film was warmly welcomed in Park City, Utah, a town deep inside the heart of Mormon territory.

Greaves pointed out that evangelicals are quite happy with Pence and the latter’s appointment of federal judges. The TST founder’s words are not too far off the mark. The VP of the United States is a man who at one time described himself as Christian, conservative, and Republican in this exact order. He has also stridently denied the scientific theory of evolution and signed the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law when he was the Governor of Indiana. Pence is known to be anti-gay and has previously supported gay conversion therapy.

One of the more interesting scenes in the documentary Hail Satan? deals with Jex Blackmore, a former spokesperson of TST and who was also the leader of the Detroit chapter. She asked for President Trump’s execution during a performance art event. Greaves was forced to sack Blackmore despite the two being close friends due to her incendiary statement. According to Greaves, TST is a non-violent entity.
