Kentucky Governor Pushing Controversial Move

Governor Matt Bevin released a video yesterday urging students in Kentucky to carry their Bibles when going to school. The encouragement comes during a time when the Bring Your Bible to School Day campaign was championed by the students. On social media, Bevin told the students that it is their right to do so.

The Kentucky governor has always made it a point to use every avenue possible to promote Christianity.

The campaign is meant to make the students better conversed with the Bible. In fact, the governor would like the students to use the Bible for conversations. The aim is to promote spirituality.

Bring Your Bible to School Day is on its fifth anniversary this year. Previously, young students from different states have been observing the day by simply bringing their Bibles to school. The governor now wants the students to put more efforts in following the Biblical standards of living.

However, some non-Christians are disagreeing with the day. Muslim and Atheist groups are arguing it promotes a particular religious doctrine that portrays them negatively. Atheists argue this violates church and state separation and forces religion into public schools.

Bevin made a declaration that the years 2016 and 2017 would be the years of the Bible.
