The couple also made a $51,000 contribution to another of the church’s organizations.

When Pastor Jimmy Dorrell was forced to relocate his congregation from their standard meeting venue due to a highway construction project, he had little hope of finding a new place to pray. Dorrell, the pastor of Church Under the Bridge, was pleasantly surprised to get an offer from Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines to use their lawns for church services at their Magnolia Market at the Silos. What’s more, this offer of praying space was completely free of charge.

The invitation was promptly accepted by Pastor Jimmy Dorrell. The pastor admitted that he knew a few people before at Magnolia, specifically Joanna Gaines. Dorrell said he knew her before she became a well-known television star, when she used to model in the church’s fundraising fashion shows.

Pastor Dorrell expressed gratitude to the Chip and Joanna Gaines for their $51,000 contribution. The duo gave money to the nonprofit grocery store operated by Mission Waco, another ministry owned by Dorrell. The pastor is also a part-time professor at Baylor University, which Chip Gaines attended. It was at Baylor when he first heard about Dorrell. Gaines told the Waco Tribune-Herald that he admired the pastor-professor from afar. When he read about how the imminent construction activity would affect his church, he wanted to do something about it. Gaines then contacted Dorrell, and both parties agreed on the feasibility of the idea and shook hands agreeing to the deal.

The Gaines couple has a lot going on other than being generous. They have five children, with the youngest a newborn and the oldest 13-years-old. The reality TV stars shocked audiences in September 2017 when they announced the cancellation of their highly rated show Fixer Upper after five successful seasons. The couple owns Magnolia Homes, a design and remodeling business located in Waco. They also own the highly successful retail shop named Magnolia Market at the Silos.
