‘New Girl’ Star Zooey Deschanel converts to Judaism for love.
They say the power of love can make one do extraordinary things. What about the extent of changing your religion? This has been proven by the actress, producer and model Zooey Deschanel, who has gone against all odds by converting to Judaism for the sake of her husband, Jacob Pechenik.
According to Us Weekly insider sources, Zooey Deschanel who is now 35- years old revealed that she converted to Judaism four months ago for Jacob before they made their vows.
In her early life, Zooey was not raised in any religious faith inclination because her mother is a Roman Catholic and her Father is a Quaker. 'My family is liberal. I was raised in the "you can be whatever you want" kind of way. And in the end, I was like, "Eh."' She said.
Her father is Caleb Deschanel, the Academy Award-nominated cinematographer behind The Passion of the Christ.
The couples welcomed their first born lovely daughter Elsie on July this year. In an exclusive interview on Today Show last month, Zooey clarified the idea behind their daughters name Elsie Otter.
She said that "We just really liked the name Elsie, and then we both love otters, they're very sweet and they're also smart. They use tools…they hold hands while they sleep…They're wonderful animals." The married couple are enjoying their marriage well as evidenced by their day out Saturday in San Diego, California.
