If Trump is elected, he promises to fight to bring the word Christmas back into mainstream marketing campaigns to protect the interest of Christians.
In another controversial move, primary Republican candidate, Donald Trump stated that he will protect the interests of Christians and fight for Christmas if and when he is elected to be President.

The billionaire, known for his frequent controversial remarks, addressed an Iowa based conservative Christian group on Saturday, last week. As part of his address, he said that he was unhappy about the way Christmas was being secularized, especially in department stores across the country.

He went on to say that he would like to bring back the true spirit of Christmas into such stores and that he wanted people to celebrate Christmas. He even criticized department stores for not “having the word.” The speech was followed by applause from the crowd.
He also complained about how secularization and liberalism are making things worse and that if it continues, Christians in America will not even be able to attend church in the future.
Trump’s speech was given at an event sponsored by the Iowa Faith and Freedom Center, which was held in Des Moines at the Paul R. Knapp Learning Center. Apart from stating that he would protect Christianity and Christmas from secularization, Trump added that social conservatives did not have anybody worthwhile on their side to defend them.
He emphasized on the persecution faced by Christians in the Middle East and how they did not have anyone to fight for them. He further went on to state that he would be their protector because he was one of them.
Trump was even seen holding a picture of his Baptism while addressing the crowd.
The event was also attended by editor-in-chief of Caffeinated Thoughts, Shane Vander Hart who said that he appreciated Trump bringing up the issue of Christian persecution and Christmas secularization. However, he felt that Trump is still hard to understand in terms of his religious perspective and that’s not going to get easily digested by the evangelicals in Iowa.
Hart also brought up the issue of how Trump failed to defend county clerk Kim Davis, which is something that definitely will not go down very well with conservative evangelicals.
However, Trump continues to lead in the Republican Polls so far, which includes evangelical voters as well. But, polling based on religiosity shows that Trump is not held favorably among a majority of the evangelicals.
