Rubio highlights his Christian faith in a new TV commercial campaign.

Iowa is one of the most important battlegrounds for every presidential hopeful. And in a state known for its very conservative and religious voters, candidates need to work hard and prove their Christian values to win the voters’ hearts. Ted Cruz has been topping the polls in the Hawkeye State by successfully gaining the endorsement of evangelical leaders. And even if many criticize Donald Trump for merely using religion and the Bible as campaign props, he remains strongly supported and ranks number two in Iowa.

Ted Cruz ranks third in the state and in an effort to trim the gap with Cruz and Trump, he is refocusing his strategy in a more religious way. Last weekend, Cruz rolled out a new TV ad that focuses on his Christian faith. Cruz who is a member of the Catholic Church pointed how he lives as a Christian and how his faith has influenced much of his actions, principles and political platforms.

The transcript of the 30-second TV commercial reads:

“Our goal is eternity, the ability to live alongside our creator for all time. To accept the free gift of salvation offered to us by Jesus Christ. The struggle on a daily basis as a Christian is to remind ourselves of this. The purpose of our life is to cooperate with God’s plan. To those who much has been given, much is expected. And we will be asked to account for that. Were your treasures stored up on earth or in heaven? And to me, I try to allow that to influence me in everything that I do.”
