It was Chris Pratt’s first public appearance since his separation from Anna Faris.

Just days after his announcement of his divorce with his wife of eight years, Anna Faris, Chris Pratt seemed to be in a positive mood during his public appearance as he attended the Teen Choice Awards. Pratt even thanked Jesus for having brought him to this stage in his life.

Pratt has been an openly practicing Christian and has spoken about his faith on numerous occasions. He even constructed a giant cross on Easter last year in a public display of his Christian faith. His marriage with Anna was seen by his Christian fans as an example of how the sanctity of marriage could be maintained in this modern age. As such, his divorce with his long-time sweetheart can come as a real shock to both his Christian as well as non-Christian fans.

Despite the recent and shocking news, the Guardians of The Galaxy star seemed to be his usual cheerful self as he collected his award. On stage to hand over the award to Pratt were Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, winner of America’s Got Talent, Grace VanderWaal, and dancer Maddie Ziegler.

Fans noted the absence of the wedding ring which had always been worn by the actor. This signified the decision to separate had reached its culmination and there was not going to be any chance of getting back together for the two. Confirming this was Pratt’s own statement, that they “still love each other and will always cherish our time together.” The actor also admitted they had tried their best to salvage their marriage but that it was simply not working out anymore – something he said he and Anna were both very disappointed about.

In a statement released earlier by the couple, they said that “Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.” This indicates that although the two were going separate ways, they still intend to continue to work together as parents for their child.
