Brad Pitt talks openly about religion and his Southern Baptist childhood in a new interview.

The acclaimed actor, Brad Pitt recently made it public that he is an atheist. The now 51-year old actor was raised in a strict Baptist family. Pitt has nothing to do with religion nowadays. In his interview with a British newspaper, he said that he became a better actor due to his relationship with his wife Angelina Jolie and their six children.

Pitt linked his father to his absence of faith, saying that he raised him true to the Christian faith- and “all the guilt that comes with it.” He was given a strict set of rules describing what he can or should do as well as what he could not do.

Even with this difference in lifestyle, Pitt was still influenced by his father in other ways on how to raise his children.

Pitt said that his family always stressed is to make their children capable of doing things by themselves. Integrity was an important attribute and that influenced a lot on how the actor himself brings up his kids.

In contrast, Angelina Jolie, his wife, subscribes to a different set of thought when it comes to a higher power. She said that humans are not exclusive to this world and there is something that is bigger than the human race. She is unsure about which name to give it: faith or religion, but is sure that it is beautiful and uniting.

When it comes to matters of family, Pitt has admitted that being a father to six children has changed him both as an actor and as a man. He admits that his marriage to Jolie has survived divorce, which is common among Hollywood couples. He says that both Jolie's history and his own mean a lot to him. He and his wife watch themselves get old, and share pains, joys and many amazing moments.

Pitt mentions the pleasure of being a father and mentions that he did not know his capacity for love until he saw his child's face. He and Jolie have a total of six children. Three of them, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox are their biological offspring and the other three, Zahara, Maddox and Pax, are adopted.

He describes his family unit as a place of abundant love and also quite of a lot of fighting and refereeing. He mentioned his love for total chaos and fun in his household.  He said it was always a dream of his to have a large family.
