A few structures found to the east of Jordan river are termed as “footprints of God.”[/tweetit] There are a total of six structures, all of them shaped like sandals. These are huge, with one of them particularly large, larger than two full-sized football fields and having a width of 228 feet. Contrary to the myth, archaeologists are sure that these were made by humans. It is thought that they were made at the time of Joshua and during the entry of the children of Israel when they came into the Promised Land. The event marked the end of the 40-year exodus journey. The march started from Egypt.

Adam Zertal, an archaeologist, is especially excited concerning one of the six structures situated on Mount Ebal. The Bible mentions this geographical place as the location where Moses instructed his followers to place written curses. The latter will fall on anyone who breaks the law. The archaeologist found the structure an interesting one as it has a few unique features. The middle has a large altar measuring 23 feet in length and 30 feet in breadth. A number of preliminary excavations were done at the site. Charred animal bones alongside with ash were found around the altar and also inside it.
Zertal is of the opinion that this altar could be that specific altar which Joshua constructed after the Israelites entered Promised Land. He believes that this altar is mentioned in Bible. Mention of the structure, if applicable, can be found in Joshua 8:30. Moses, before Israelites walked into Promised Land, instructed them to write curses linked with the law. They should then be placed on Mount Ebal. The blessings, on the other hand, should be placed on Mount Gerizim. These deductions are in accordance with Deuteronomy 11:29 as mentioned in the Bible. Moses also instructed the Israelites that they should construct an altar on the Mount Ebal with uncut stone. Lime must cover the rocks on which the curses must be written. It can be a coincidence that the mountain has considerable lime deposits. There were also remnants of many ancient quarries.

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz, a historical researcher, has also put forward a theory. He reminded that the Bible states God gave the Israelites an interesting promise prior to them entering the Promised Land. Deuteronomy 11:24 states that the people will own all land where their soles will step on. The giant footprints symbolize that.
