Newt Gingrich & David Lane to recruit 1,000 pastors for political positions to prevent “totalitarian secularism.”
Christian leaders in America are worried that America is shifting from its traditional Christian values to a liberal structure they feel is too dangerous. Conservative Christian icon Newt Gingrich has urged Christian pastors to get into American politics in a bid to prevent the liberalism he feels is engulfing the nation. Gingrich has decried the liberal thoughts towards which the nation is moving, calling it “totalitarian secularism.”

The controversial figure, who had contested for president in 2009, believes “totalitarian secularism” can be fought against if more and more pastors were to join politics. He said the “totalitarian secularism” that America is moving towards is ushering an era of complete acceptance of gay rights, feminism and an increasing separation between Church and state. Gingrich has now partnered with David Lane, who is still working on his plan to get 1,000 pastors to hold political positions in the American government. Having announced the plan in 2009, Lane has been continually working to fulfill this dream. Now, with Gingrich on his side, things are expected to happen faster.
Gingrich, who has previously held the position of Speaker of the House, released a video in which he has urged pastors to consider running for political offices. He believes that with religious leaders in political positions, the fight against the forces who according to him are trying to introduce a “totalitarian secularism” society on the American society can be won.
In the video, Gingrich expresses his fear that the Judeo-Christian base of America is under constant threat today. He even insisted the persecution against American Christians is at its worst when compared to at any other time in history. He then exhorted the watchers, who are intended to be Conservative Christians to fight against this persecution. He says, "I think you have a duty…to have the courage to stand up and tell the truth; tell the truth about those who would impose a totalitarian secularism on us… force us to bow to the power of the government in order to do things that our religious forbids, you have a duty to tell the truth about those who would kill us in the name of Islamic supremacy.”
Critics pointed out that these ideas were absurd and hateful, saying that it is the minorities who are being persecuted by America's religious. Though Christians still form the highest majority in all of America's legal bodies, Gingrich and Lane believe the Christian presence in the government is on a steady decline.
