According to Netanyahu, the Holocaust was inspired by Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti.
The Prime Minister of Israel was accused of forgiving Adolf Hitler for his responsibility in the genocide of millions of Jews in the Holocaust by placing the blame on Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti, who he claims is the one to urge Hitler to kill them.
Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister is being criticized by many for his speech where he alleged that Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini had suggested the idea of Jewish genocide to Adolf Hitler during the World War II.

According to Netanyahu, Hitler had planned on expelling the Jewish people and did not aim for genocide before meeting with Haj Amin al-Husseini. Adding that during this alleged, November 1941 meeting al-Husseini told Hitler “that all Jews will flee here [to Palestine] if they are expelled from Europe.” Hitler then asked that “What should be done with them?” and the Mufti had advised him to “Burn them.”
Netanyahu was addressing the “World Zionist Congress” that was being held in Jerusalem. The Prime Minister was speaking about the violence between Palestinians and Israelis when he discussed the subject.

Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) secretary general Saeb Erekat said, “It is a sad day in history when the leader of the Israeli government hates his neighbor so much that he is willing to absolve the most notorious war criminal in history, Adolf Hitler, of the murder of six million Jews.”
Erekat, who is also in charge of being the Chief Negotiator of Palestine for discussions with Israel, said that the Israeli Prime Minister should not use this great human tragedy to earn brownie points for political advantage.
Isaac Herzog who is the leader of opposition in Israel condemned Netanyahu’s claim. Many historians agree with Herzog. They said that the Prime Minister was unnecessarily trying to trivialize the Holocaust. Moshe Yaalon, who is Netanyahu’s close ally as well as the Defense Minister of Israel, said that his leader has got it all wrong.
The Mufti, it seemed had flown to Berlin to meet the German dictator in 1941. The meeting triggered Hitler’s decision to start a campaign for annihilating the Jews.
However, several historians said that the Prime Minister was twisting timelines and arriving at incorrect conclusions. It was in 1939, two years before the meeting between Mufti and Hitler took place, that Hitler had made his intentions very clear when he spoke about exterminating the Jews.
