Foles’ play was instrumental to his team’s Super Bowl win

Quarterback Nick Foles's superb play pushed the Philadelphia Eagles to their maiden Super Bowl victory on February 4. The Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33. Foles praised God during the MVP ceremony[/tweetit] and trophy presentation. He ascribed the victory at the almighty's door, saying that the glory of the win should go to God, while holding Lily, his baby daughter.

Foles has often spoken about his religious faith and the importance of Christianity in his life. Even his social media identity has more than a twinge of Christianity. The quarterback's profile on Twitter reads that he believes in Jesus Christ and mentions that he is husband, brother, father, and son. For Foles, he may not swiftly take up his post-play career of being a pastor after he retires from the game of football.

The wish to become a pastor was long in Foles' mind. He had earlier announced his intention of being a high school pastor after his football career got over. In the initial days of 2018 that the intention to serve God was in his heart. This made him take the decision to take a leap of faith in 2017 and sign up for seminary classes. He enrolled at the Rawlings School of Divinity of Liberty University. He attends the school's online graduate classes. Many teammates of Foles also identify themselves as Christians.

Foles has said that prayer provides him the needed strength to be in NFL. According to Heavy, religion is almost always present when the quarterback speaks. He has retweeted a verse from Colossians which stated that God has forgiven all crimes done and nailed the debt record to the cross.

Foles' contribution to the win has not gone unnoticed. Tony Dungy, the NBC Sports commentator and former NFL coach, said in a tweet that Nick Foles would be an excellent player as he is a Christian. The faith alone would help him to play confidently. It also helped that the player is an excellent quarterback. The tweet was retweeted over 8,000 times and has received 52,405 likes. CBN Sports Reporter Shawn Brown, concurred with Dungy. He said people doubted Foles' game talent and he wanted to quit. Only his faith in God saved his football career from coming to a premature end.
