Trent Harmon says American Idol win is “God’s Will”

American Idol has finally come to an end after its 15 season run, and the final winner Trent Harmon has been crowned. After initially collapsing onstage from shock after he was announced as the victor, Harmon eventually stood to hug runner-up La’Porsha Renea while telling her that it was “God’s will” for him to win.

After the emotional finale, Renea spoke to USA Today telling them "Trent just whispered in my ear, 'You know, this is what God wants. God has something really special for you. You won with me, too, baby.'"

Harmon’s prophecy came true soon afterwards, when record executive and Idol mentor Scott Borchetta announced he offered Renea a recording contract, too.

Harmon later stated that his collapse was due to him feeling overwhelmed at the amount of people who had worked to help him make a success of himself, and being crowned the final American Idol. He thanked such alumni as Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, who had mentored him along the way.

Given the gravity of this season’s finale that ends the run of American Idol, it should come as no surprise that a number of familiar faces from past seasons took part in the show. Such stars as Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, and Jordin Sparks, who all owe their success to the start they got on the show, were on hand to perform as part of the finale.

Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson joined the current judging panel bringing American Idol full circle.
